LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA

Livingstone is located approximately 90 minutes from Mwandi and is the pick and drop off location for all volunteers who participate in the UCZ Mission volunteer program. Volunteers have the option to either arrive early before their pick up date or stay longer after being dropped off. There are a many activities and adventures on offer in Livingstone, such as;

    White Water Rafting

    Considered one of the best stretches of commercially run river in the world, Batoka Gorge provides one of the most intense adventures imaginable. There are 23 white-water rapids in total. When the river is high, March – July, only the last 13 rapids can be done. As the water subsides, from June to February, all 23 are navigable.

    Bungee Jumping

    Home to the highest commercial bridge jump in the world. Located on a 111 meter bridge, spanning the magnificent Batoka Gorge, that connects Zambia and Zimbabwe, this bungee jump is the greatest adrenalin rush in the most beautiful surroundings.

  • Game Safari

    The Mosi-O-Tunya National Park is situated along the upper Zambezi stretching from and including the Victoria Falls for about 12kms up the Zambezi River above the Falls. The Park provides a home for numerous antelope species, zebra, giraffe, warthog, a variety of birds and smaller animals. Visitors can drive their own vehicles through the park or go on organised open vehicle game drives and recently elephant back safaris have been introduced. It is also the only place in the whole of Africa where you can see white rhino’s in the wild. The best way to spot the rhino’s is on a walking safari.

    Mircolighting and Helicopter Ride

    There are many ways to view Victoria Falls but perhaps there is no better way than viewing the Falls from above in an open cockpit with the wind in your hair and the sun in your face is an awe-inspiring experience. A microlight flight over the Falls is truly an adventure like no other. For those who prefer an enclosed aircraft, helicopter rides over the Falls are also available.

    Abseiling and Gorge Swing

    Adventurers also have the option to abseil and/or rap jump down the 54 meter sheer cliff wall of Batoka Gorge. Fly across the worlds first commercial High Wire, spanning 135m across the gorge and 75m above the ground. Or for the ultimate adrenaline rush, why not try the gorge swing. A 54 meter pure free fall, reaching speeds of up to 180 km/h. Jump on your own or in tandem with a friend. Jump forwards, backwards or do the Death Drop!
